     My Childcare

       Experience

My child care career started when I was just 14 as a babysitter for families in the church I used to attend. When I was 16 years old I went to college and took the  Btec 1st diploma in caring. A one year course covering 3 main areas of care including elderly care, child care, and special needs care. I then went on to doing the NAMCW a 2 year course which was entirely dedicated to childcare covering practical placements in Midwifery, Home help, Nannying, Special Needs Units, Classroom Assistants, Playgroups and Nurseries. On completion of the NAMCW I started working at The Trees Day Care Nursery where I stayed for 9 and a half years, during which time I was also a Tawney Owl for the Brownies, and an Anchor Boy leader for the local church.  I also had the opportunity to get my NVQ level 3 in childcare and education, and run my own performance club for children.

When my daughter was born in 2006 I became a registered childminder and practised for 6-7 years.

I Currently volunteer at the local infant school in both the Nursery Class and reception year, where I have been for 7 months now, and before that I was a volunteer reader at the same school and local junior school.
