The Box Tree Performers Meet and Greet

The Empire Hall, Totton, Hampshire, Thursday's 7.30-9.30pm

7.30pm   Meet and greet starts.

Tonight's meeting will be fairly relaxed, and will give us the chance to get to know each other.

This will be done using ice breakers and group challenges.

This will be followed by a short introductory meeting ,  providing you with information about the group. (full details listed below.)

Subs for this evening will be a one off cost of £3.00 pp.

Our Usual weekly subs for the adult group are £4.00 PAYG pp

This helps towards hall hire, refreshments and Group enhancements.

After the short meeting we will take a look at some drama sketches, and begin planning preparation of the adults performances, for our Cabaret Styled variety show, to be presented to the public, in our Summer Magic Season (end of July, Middle of August) this will predominantly be a group fund raiser, so that we can invest in props, lighting, costumes etc, to be able to put on good quality shows for our audiences.

Ice breaker challenges

7.35 pm

Icebreaker 1 :  Welcome Circle :

Name introduction, and something about yourself ( e.g. job, hobbies, interests etc.)

Icebreaker 2:   What's My Lie ?

This activity is a little bit like the game show "call my bluff," except instead of using three words you tell the group three interesting things about yourself, it can be something from your childhood if you want to make it a little trickier.

Two of your given facts must be the truth and one must be a lie.

The rest of the group then discuss amongst themselves which fact they believe to be true, and once a decision has been made elect a candidate to announce the groups verdict using the numbered flash cards 1,2 or 3.

The spokesperson must then tell everybody which fact was indeed a lie.

If the group gets it wrong they must take a group forfeit,  if they were right the spokesperson takes an individual forfeit.

(This activity is purely for fun, so enjoy yourselves.)

Icebreaker 3 (If time):  Shakespearian Match

In small groups or pairs you will be given an envelope containing.10 Shakespearian plays, sonnets or poems, and 10 characters. Your task is to work out which character goes with which of Shakespeare's works.  (Warning your envelope contains 2 misdemeanours.)  Can you work out what they are ?

The task is basically to read through the sketch with your group, cast the characters,  rehearse it,  and then present it to the rest of the group.

(These sketches are going to be Prospective performances for our variety show)
